About Kinesiology

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a holistic therapy which uses gentle, non-invasive, muscle testing as a way to communicate with the body. Holistic means that it looks at the individual as a whole and recognises the interplay between different aspects of people’s lives.

It is based on the principle that the body has its own intelligence and knows what it does and doesn’t need to work optimally.

When the body is lacking things it needs, or is being given things that disrupt it, it leads to imbalances. These imbalances can stem from physical, nutritional, emotional and/or energetic factors. Imbalances stop the body from working optimally, and it is these imbalances that, if left unchecked, are what ultimately lead to illness and disease.

When the body is in balance, it can work in the way it was meant to, which includes healing itself.

Therefore the aim of kinesiology is to identify the imbalances that are present, and determine the methods required to bring the body back into its ideal, balanced state of being. Muscle testing is the method by which this information is communicated by the body.

Once identified imbalances can be corrected using lymphatic massage, nutritional elements, energy balancing and emotional work. Kinesiology looks at the physical, emotional, energetic and nutritional aspects of all imbalances. It doesn’t subscribe to the idea that a physical problem has a purely physical cause.

‘Systematic Kinesiology uses muscle testing as a type of body language which communicates problems and then solutions to the client and practitioner. Kinesiology is non-invasive, drug free and enormously empowering.’

What can Kinesiology help with?

As kinesiology addresses imbalances, even before they become symptomatic within the body or mind, it works extremely effectively in a preventative capacity. However, addressing these imbalances to help return the body to a state of self-healing balance, means that it can also be beneficial for people experiencing a range of health complaints. It can complement traditional medical treatment, as well as being used to identify the underlying root of issues which sometime cannot be explained medically.

It is worth noting that kinesiology is not used to diagnose medical disorders, nor does it treat these issues. It rebalances the body to help it return to its natural state in which it is capable of healing itself. This can then help with a wide range of physical, mental, emotional and energetic issues including:

  • Mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, OCD
  • Stress
  • Emotional difficulties
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Physical complaints such as back pain, joint issues, digestive issues
  • Fatigue and low energy levels
  • Those prone to infections
  • Ongoing/chronic illnesses
  • Aches/pains/niggles
  • Sleep problems
  • Skin complaints

Kinesiology can also be beneficial to those, such as athletes, who are in overall good health but would like to optimise their physical and mental performance.
